Bill Fleener
Fleener was born on May 1, 1937 in Port
Angeles and grew up there, playing three years of high school
baseball before graduating in 1955. Among his prep highlights was a
no-hitter against Port Townsend High. He joined the the U.S. Army
and, while playing for the Seventh Army Support Command in
Kaiserslautern, Germany, pitched a 6-0 shutout against the VII Corps
Jayhawks.
Upon returning stateside, Fleener
attended Western Washington State College, where twice he earned
All-Evergreen Conference honors and in 1964 and 1965 participated in
the NAIA College World Series in St. Joseph, Missouri. |
